The Empty Table Was Always Waiting

Every Thursday, a waitress served a cup of coffee to an empty table.

Nobody understood why.

The table was always the same.

The chair was always empty.

Yet every Thursday, the waitress quietly placed a fresh cup of coffee there as though she were serving a regular customer.

Most people assumed it was simply a strange habit.

Until one customer finally asked her about it.

“Why do you keep serving that table?”

The waitress looked toward the empty chair.

Her answer was simple.

“Because someone still comes here.”

“Who?”

The customer looked at the empty table.

“Who?”

The waitress hesitated before answering.

“An old man.”

“He comes every Thursday.”

The customer glanced around the diner.

There was nobody sitting there.

Still, the waitress seemed completely certain.

She continued serving the coffee every Thursday, never explaining exactly what she meant.

Then one evening, something happened that made the strange tradition impossible to ignore.

An Elderly Woman Walks Into the Diner

An elderly woman entered the diner.

She looked around the room casually at first.

Then her eyes landed on the cup of coffee sitting at the familiar table.

She stopped.

Her expression changed immediately.

“That’s my husband’s table.”

The waitress froze.

She carefully looked at the woman.

The widow explained that her husband had always favored that particular table.

The waitress then described the old man she had supposedly seen there every Thursday.

The way he sat.

The table he chose.

And the routine she had noticed over time.

The woman’s face became pale.

“My Husband Died Three Years Ago”

The woman stared at the waitress.

Then she quietly said:

“My husband died three years ago.”

Nobody in the diner spoke.

The waitress looked toward the empty chair.

She had been certain someone was coming to the table every Thursday.

But if the woman’s husband had died three years earlier, who had the waitress been seeing?

And why had the coffee always been served at that exact table?

The elderly woman continued staring at the empty chair.

Then something happened that made the entire diner fall silent.

The Door Suddenly Opens

The diner door suddenly opened behind them.

The waitress slowly turned around.

Someone was standing in the doorway.

For a moment, nobody moved.

The elderly woman remained beside the table, staring toward the entrance.

The waitress couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

The mysterious Thursday tradition had always seemed like a strange little habit.

But now, with the widow standing beside her husband’s table and someone appearing in the doorway, the waitress began to wonder whether there was a connection she had never understood.

The Empty Chair Wasn’t the Only Mystery

For three years, the elderly woman had believed her husband’s place at the diner belonged only to a memory.

But the waitress had continued preparing his coffee every Thursday.

She had insisted that someone still came.

Now the widow was there.

The coffee was waiting.

And someone had just appeared in the doorway.

The waitress slowly looked from the person at the entrance back to the empty chair.

Whatever happened next would finally reveal why that table had remained part of the same Thursday routine for so long.
