The ambulance driver thought the horse was chasing them.
For nearly two miles, the animal kept running behind the ambulance.
Every time the driver sped up, the horse continued running.

The man pointed toward the horse.

They had followed the horse because it refused to stop following the ambulance.

The elderly man looked toward the horse and smiled.
“She’s been waiting for me every morning for twelve years.”
The words left the paramedics stunned.
For twelve years, the man and the horse had apparently shared the same quiet routine.
Now, when he needed help, the horse had remained beside him and then followed the ambulance until the paramedics understood what she was trying to show them.
